Tauroética

While the debate in 2010 was developed in the Catalan Parliament on banning bullfighting in their autonomous region, was finally approved after the philosopher Fernando Savater wrote an essay entitled Tauroética .

Supporters of the ban on bullfighting question their morality, primarily, for what the heart of the matter is, without doubt, ethical, and means that, leaving aside other aspects of such sentimental or folkloric have to focus the discussion in the field of philosophy. And that is what, precisely, makes Fernando Savater in this essay: going beyond even the scope of the Party, reflects on the relationship of men to animals. Since

raised ethical reasons against bullfighting, as cruelty or torture to animals, the Basque philosopher explains that ethics is not about our relationship with all living beings, but only on the relationship with their fellow humans, and performs a reflection in which he analyzes as men historically have been adapting the animal world for our service and complement our lives and our civilization based on our interests. And it is only in this area where it says Fernando Savater which to focus our relationship with animals, because nature knows no rights of interaction between the different species of animals, but simply about serving others. It therefore maintains that men have obligations moral animals, but only some consideration to those with whom we have a symbiotic relationship closer.

However, part of modern society, not only equates to some animals to humans, but that becomes a kind of "divine beings" that must be respected above even the rest of humanity; and what animals is intended to give them rights. That, regardless of an error, comes great contradiction in our own ways. Do we recognize the rats, cockroaches, or lice the right to life and to cause them suffering, or, instead, tried to exterminate them so mercilessly? Why why some animals and others do not? Of course, the worst conflict of all is that we make in our behavior to "our beloved pets." Speaking of birds, hamsters and turtles, which is constantly being caged: "... Is there anything worse than being a pet? ", asks Fernando Savater.
